Our Mission

For You

Make it easy and effortless to access repair

For The Planet

Make the sustainable option the easy and preferred one - repair more, dispose less

For The Industry

Save, rejuvenate, and grow a beloved but often overlooked and shrinking industry through smart and intentional disruption

Impact & Sustainability

The fashion industry is one of the greatest contributors to pollution globally. According to Bloomberg, fashion accounts for up to 10% of carbon dioxide output globally—more than international flights and shipping combined. It also accounts for a fifth of the 300 million tons of plastic produced globally each year.

So, how do shoes fit in?

Each year, more than 20 billion pairs of shoes are manufactured around the world, and one study claims that the footwear industry is responsible for 1.4% of global greenhouse gas emissions stemming from the production chain and materials used.

While 20 billion pairs of shoes are produced each year, 300 million pairs are thrown away. Crazy, right?

While shoes can be recycled, they typically aren't. Most are made with unsustainable materials—including plastics, glues, and leathers—that require significant resources to create and don't break down easily, which means that many of those 300 million discarded shoes may take up to 1,000 years to decompose in landfills.

Repair is exponentially more sustainable than recycling.

The good news is that the repair economy is predicted to grow, or even take off in 2023. Much of this focus, though, is on clothing. For shoes, Coblrshop is the vehicle for change.
